Parish registry entry of Samuel’s baptism

For many years, I was very curious to find out what family records in the Saint Mary the Virgin registry at Ashford actually, physically, looked like—that is, I wondered why translations are so frequently debated.

In that spirit, I am posting below images of the baptism record of Samuel from February 1624 for those who may also be interested. I believe, although cannot be certain, these photos are part of a group of photos taken for us by Cecilia Heritage who traveled to Ashford on our behalf.

The top of the page reads in part “Parish of Ashford from the 29th of September 1623 to the 29th of September 1624 as follows:” Lower on the same page and next to the word February appearing to the left, the entry reads, “Samuel the son of Ralph Dayton bapt.”
